Accessibility statement
Our commitment
Accessibility is not a compliance checkbox for us. It is a commitment to inclusive design. Our goal is that everyone, regardless of ability, can use our services effectively. We design and test our services to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, and we aim to go beyond them.
We design around four principles: information must be perceivable, the interface must be operable by keyboard and assistive technology, content must be understandable and predictable, and it must be robust enough to work with current and future assistive technologies.
What this policy covers
- The My Money Matters web platform, including Shared Cost AVCs, on-demand pay and Auto Savings
- Our mobile apps for iOS and Android
How we build accessibility in
Our accessibility standard sets out what every feature must support. For our web platform, it requires that you can:
- reach and use every interactive element with a keyboard, in a logical order, with a visible focus indicator
- use a screen reader, with labelled inputs and announcements when content changes, such as alerts and pop-ups
- resize text up to 200% without losing content or functionality
- read text with a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1, and understand information without relying on colour alone
- get clear instructions and error messages when completing forms
For our mobile apps, our standard is that you can complete the same tasks with assistive technology as without it. We design our apps to:
- work with VoiceOver and Switch Control on iOS, and TalkBack and Switch Access on Android
- support an external keyboard, and keep the focused item visible on screen
- use touch targets of at least 24 by 24 pixels, and 44 by 44 where possible
- offer an alternative to any action that needs dragging
- show help and support in the same place on every screen
- avoid asking you to re-enter information you have already given, unless essential
- let you sign in without memorising information or solving puzzles, with support for password managers, copy and paste, and biometrics
How we test
- Our standard requires automated accessibility checks as part of our build and release process.
- It also requires manual testing with screen readers on desktop and mobile, and with an external keyboard in our apps.
- We include people with disabilities in usability testing when possible.
